Overview

Samsara is hiring a hands-on Staff Software Engineer for its Telematics team in Europe. This technical leadership position focuses on scaling telematics products, including routing and workforce management solutions designed for physical operations. The role involves close collaboration with customers, product managers, designers, and engineering partners to develop, test, and deliver software that addresses real-world operational needs.

Requirements

Applicants need a proven track record of launching customer-facing products and driving measurable outcomes such as increased adoption, retention, or revenue growth. The position requires strong product judgement, deep hands-on software engineering capabilities for production systems, and experience scaling products while balancing speed and reliability. Candidates should possess demonstrated technical leadership across team boundaries, the ability to build alignment without formal authority, and experience mentoring engineers and improving team effectiveness. Background in building early-growth B2B software or working on routing and workforce management is considered useful.

What you do

The selected engineer works directly with customers and customer-facing teams to discover unmet needs, test assumptions, and establish success measures. Responsibilities include leading ambiguous initiatives end to end from prototypes to production rollout, writing and shipping code on the critical path across services and APIs, and setting the technical direction for the area. The role requires ensuring production quality, maintaining system reliability, mentoring senior engineers, conducting code and design reviews, and hiring and developing an inclusive team.

What you get

The employing organization offers a compensation structure that combines a base salary with performance-based variable pay and equity for eligible roles. Additional benefits include a flexible, employee-led remote model, a professional development stipend, comprehensive health plans, and parental leave.
