Based at the Oxford Endometriosis CaRe Centre located at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, the position involves participating in a translational research programme in partnership with Hirundo Biosciences. The appointed individual will work on translating human genetic discoveries into new treatments for endometriosis through target validation using patient-derived tissues.

Who can apply

Candidates must hold a PhD or DPhil in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, reproductive biology, or a related discipline, alongside postdoctoral research experience in genome editing methodologies. Applicants need a strong publication record featuring first-author papers in peer-reviewed journals, experience with gene and protein expression analysis in primary tissues, tissue culture, and in vitro functional assays, as well as essential experience in the bioinformatic analysis of genomic or transcriptomic data. Additional advantages include prior experience with primary human tissues, organoids, genetic manipulation of primary cells, or single-cell and spatial sequencing data.

What you get

The position is offered as a full-time, fixed-term contract lasting for three years with a salary ranging from £49,119 to £65,336 per annum on Research Grade 8. Flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered based on business needs, though occasional out-of-hours work may be required for patient tissue collection.

Requirements

The role requires leading research activities to validate therapeutic targets, developing and optimizing experimental protocols, investigating cellular processes, and collaborating with clinicians, geneticists, and computational scientists. Responsibilities also include contributing to publications, funding applications, and presentations, managing research activities and budgets, and supervising other team members, including graduate research students.

How to apply

Applicants must submit an online application that includes a curriculum vitae and a supporting statement providing specific examples of how their skills and experience meet the selection criteria.

Key dates

The closing date for applications is 12:00 noon on 26th November 2026. Interviews are expected to take place on 16th December 2026.
