Senior Backend Product Engineer

Overview

CAIS is seeking a Senior Backend Product Engineer to join the Capital Markets technology team in London. The position involves designing, building, and operating systems across the pre-trade, trade, and post-trade lifecycle, including structured investments, equity IPOs, hedging and monetization, and exchange-traded funds. Engineers work within small, autonomous teams using Kanban principles, collaborating with product managers and colleagues in New York to solve complex problems and develop agentic AI features.

Requirements

Applicants must have professional experience as a software developer working with Java or Kotlin server-side applications, along with a track record of transforming business problems into working software with measurable impact. Candidates need experience building and operating mission-critical production services through the full CI/CD lifecycle, as well as strong testing habits covering unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. The role requires experience with Spring, relational database design, REST API design, and Kafka or a comparable event streaming platform. Additionally, applicants must possess AI-first development experience utilizing AI agents and large language models, alongside technical leadership skills, mentoring experience, and clear communication abilities.

What you get

The position offers a base salary range of 95,000 to 125,000 GBP per year, complemented by a performance bonus and benefits. Visa sponsorship may be available for suitable candidates.
