Overview

Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform used by millions of businesses to accept payments and grow revenue, is hiring a New Grad Security Engineer in Dublin. Stripe positions itself as a middle ground between a small startup and a multinational, with systems and processes optimised for early-career professionals in an environment that values rigour, discipline and reliability.

The Security organisation builds and maintains the secure platform that protects sensitive data and systems. The role contributes to core security functions such as threat detection, rapid incident response, platforms that manage vulnerabilities, and offensive security assessments, applying software engineering principles and new technologies including AI to high-stakes security problems.

What you will do

The new graduate works across several security disciplines and owns projects from start to finish. Duties include learning secure-by-default design by working with product and infrastructure engineering teams, building foundational understanding in areas such as threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management or offensive security, and learning to act as a security subject matter expert for engineers and non-engineers alike. The engineer also helps develop internal tools and automation to scale security work, takes part in threat modelling discussions, gives feedback on code reviews and technical designs, and provides insights that help identify, prevent, detect and respond to suspicious activity.

Requirements

Applicants should be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's programme in computer science or a related field, with some programming experience from side projects or classwork. Stripe works mostly in Java, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Scala and Go but believes new languages can be learned. Experience from internships or collaborative multi-person coding projects, the ability to learn unfamiliar systems with a mentor, and an aptitude for thinking like an attacker are needed. Preferred qualifications include code review experience, familiarity with large code bases, coursework or experience in cyber security, digital forensics or incident response, knowledge of the OWASP Top 10, basic SQL, exposure to cloud platforms and an understanding of threat actor tactics.
