Overview

The Safal MRM Foundation is looking for a Communications Officer in Nairobi, Kenya. The position is permanent and junior-level, with a market-related salary. The officer works closely with the Head of the Foundation to support communication and public relations, strengthening the Foundation's visibility and engagement with partners, beneficiaries, employees and the public. Requirements

The duties include developing and carrying out the communication strategy, producing annual reports, presentations and promotional materials, and finding new ways to engage partners and beneficiaries through social media. The officer also consolidates impact stories, supports donor recognition and stewardship, plans events including logistics and vendors, reviews regional social media calendars and content, and researches audiences, benchmarks and platforms. Other tasks are creating, editing and publishing written, visual and video content, tracking social media performance, coordinating public relations and preparing monthly progress reports.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification is an advantage. They should have professional experience in corporate communications, public relations or media relations, preferably with evidence of strategies or campaigns they developed and delivered. Strong writing and editing are essential, along with knowledge of media relations practice such as press release writing, media pitching and monitoring. Other competencies include digital communications, social media management, storytelling, communications analytics, event coordination, stakeholder engagement, benchmarking and managing deadlines.
