Research Fellow
Overview
The University of Warwick is hiring a Research Fellow within the Department of Physics, specifically at the Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics. This position forms part of a five-year research initiative funded by STFC that examines Earth's magnetosphere and radiation belts through computational modelling. The role is based on site and involves collaborating with Northumbria University and the University of Birmingham.
Who can apply
Candidates should bring background experience in space physics, plasma physics, numerical modelling, or scientific computing. Having applied these skills specifically to radiation belts, magnetospheric research, or closely related fields is considered especially advantageous. Applicants nearing the completion of their PhD or those who have not yet had the degree formally conferred are also eligible to apply, with appointments initially made at the Research Assistant level until confirmation of the PhD award is provided.
What you get
The position is offered as a full-time, fixed-term contract with an annual salary ranging from £36,320 to £46,970 for candidates holding a confirmed PhD. For appointees coming in at the Research Assistant level prior to PhD conferral, the salary is set at £35,302 per annum. Responsibilities include conducting original research, helping mentor and supervise PhD students, and contributing to research grant development.
Key dates
The closing date for applications is 2026-11-19.
