They work closely with the Director of Research and the wider team in a small, collaborative organisation focused on energy, finance, policy, regulation and accountability.

What you get

The salary is US$80,000 to US$90,000 per year, adjusted by location. The role offers the chance to build expertise in energy-transition finance, policy and regulation. At first the analyst leads on short-form research content, with scope over time to contribute to longer research and analytical projects.

Requirements

Applicants need at least three years of research and writing experience in areas such as energy finance and economics, financial regulation or policy, plus a record of publishing regularly and meeting deadlines. Other requirements are excellent written and spoken English, critical thinking, numerical confidence, the ability to explain complex subjects clearly, project management skills, experience across communications channels, experience in global and multicultural settings and with coalitions or multi-stakeholder networks, independence, adaptability and a collaborative, impact-focused approach. Experience in climate change, energy or finance is desirable. Candidates must be able to overlap with Central Standard Time for at least four hours a day.

Responsibilities include researching the legal, regulatory, economic and financial implications of asset retirement obligations, turning findings into policy recommendations for governments, investors and other stakeholders, drafting reports and analytical pieces, monitoring news for research opportunities and managing a content calendar for digital and social media. The analyst also presents plans in weekly meetings, coordinates with other authors, supports communications by evaluating audience responses and helps prepare media packages.
