Overview

Karuna Center for Peacebuilding is seeking a Program Finance Manager to support financial management of international peacebuilding programmes. The role is fully remote, open to people anywhere in the United States, and reports to the Executive Director. It is a new, hands-on post in a small virtual team. Karuna currently works with international subrecipients in community-based peacebuilding in Nigeria, and the manager will help make financial systems efficient, practical, compliant and accessible to partners with different capacities.

Duties include reviewing monthly payment requests, overseeing receipts and expense reports, monitoring subrecipient budgets, completing quarterly budget-versus-actual reviews, supporting budget amendments and close-outs, building practical templates and workflows, keeping policies aligned with 2 CFR 200, training and mentoring subrecipient finance teams, supporting proposal budgets and narratives, and preparing for annual audits. Occasional international travel, including to Abuja, Nigeria, may be needed.

Requirements

Applicants need at least five years managing U.S. government grants, particularly from the U.S. Department of State or USAID, and at least three years managing subrecipient budgets in international currencies. Strong knowledge of 2 CFR 200 is expected. Experience training international partners and working in West Africa is beneficial. Candidates need strong numeracy, attention to detail, cross-cultural communication and high proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, with QuickBooks an advantage. They must be legally authorised to work in the United States, and Eastern time zone locations are preferred.

What you get

Full-time salary is 75,000 to 85,000 dollars a year. Depending on grant funding, the post may be offered at 32 hours a week for 60,000 to 66,000 dollars. After a three-month probation, the organisation covers health insurance premiums up to 1,040 dollars a month. Staff receive 12 paid holidays, 15 vacation days in the first year rising to 21, and up to 10 paid sick days.

How to apply

Only applications through the online form on the organisation's jobs page are considered.

Key dates

The anticipated start is mid to late October 2026. Applications are accepted until the position is filled.
