Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Image Analyst - UK Human Functional Genomics Initiative)
Overview
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Exeter is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work as an Image Analyst in the UK Human Functional Genomics Initiative. The post sits in the initiative's Data Coordination Centre. The initiative is a national effort, backed by £28.5 million of MRC and BBSRC investment, to uncover how genetic variation drives human physiology and disease, and it collaborates with leading research groups across academia, healthcare and industry.
The postholder will analyse the varied imaging datasets generated across the initiative, supporting researchers by developing and applying new methods, building tools and promoting open and reproducible science. The role offers the chance to shape a national resource for functional genomics, drive innovation through methodological development and tool building, work widely with scientists across disciplines and sectors, and influence how human genomics research informs health and disease.

Applicants should hold a relevant PhD or an equivalent qualification or experience in a related field, with enough specialist knowledge to develop research programmes and methods. They should be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals, help secure funding, and present at conferences and events.
