Overview

The Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance (OMI) at the University of Oxford is recruiting Postdoctoral Research Assistants in Quantitative Finance. The posts are fixed term for up to three years, are on Research Grade 7, and are based at Eagle House on Walton Well Road in Oxford.

The postholders will carry out advanced academic research and take part in the full range of research and academic life at the institute. Reporting to the Director of the OMI, they will help maintain a healthy and vibrant research environment. The work involves leading, devising, coordinating and supervising research projects, including collaboration with project partners, guidance to students, taking part in and organising seminars and conferences, and winning further funding to support the research. Where appropriate, the role may involve acting as a formal co-supervisor for research students.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a relevant PhD or DPhil, or be near completion, in finance, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, computer science or a closely related subject, with preference for those who focus on data-driven models. They need enough specialist knowledge of their discipline to work within established research programmes. Experience of supervising academic work is desirable.

What you get

The full-time posts pay £41,636 to £47,779 per annum, with a discretionary range up to £51,983. The department holds a Race Equality Charter Bronze Award and an Athena SWAN Silver Award, and particularly welcomes applications from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in posts of this type at Oxford.

How to apply

Applicants are selected for interview solely on their ability to meet the selection criteria in the job description. The online application needs a statement showing how the criteria are met, a CV, other documents such as a publications list, and contact details for two referees. Applicants are responsible for making sure their referees send letters by the closing date, quoting vacancy reference 188851. Informal enquiries are welcome.

Key dates

Only applications received before 12.00 noon UK time on 19 November 2026 can be considered. Interviews are expected in the first or second week of December 2026.
