Overview

The Humane League (THL), a global nonprofit working to end the abuse of animals raised for food, is hiring an OWA Europe Corporate Strategy Lead. The full-time role is remote and supports animal protection groups across Europe through the Open Wing Alliance (OWA), a coalition of roughly 90 organizations in more than 70 countries that campaigns to improve conditions for chickens and other animals.

In Europe, OWA members have concentrated on ending battery cages and persuading companies to adopt the European Chicken Commitment. The lead will focus less on inventing strategies and more on helping member groups carry them out, through coaching, training, resource development and relationship building across the network.

Who can apply

THL wants an experienced campaigner with a background in corporate pressure campaigns, corporate engagement or negotiations, and a record of turning plans into action. Strong strategic thinking, communication and facilitation, independence, time management and adaptability are expected, along with the ability to motivate stakeholders without direct authority and to work across different cultural and political settings. A commitment to animal protection is required.

The job is remote, but candidates must be authorized to work and live in one of these countries: United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Sweden or Poland.

What you get

Pay depends on the country of employment. In the United Kingdom the range is £38,203 to £46,692 per year. A hiring bonus of 10% of gross annual salary is also offered, half paid with the first month's salary and the rest after the probationary period. Benefits vary by country and may include unlimited paid time off, enhanced sick pay, sabbatical leave, enhanced parental leave, health and life insurance, retirement contributions, an internet allowance, bereavement and personal emergency leave, and a monthly public holiday called Mend Your Heart Friday.

Requirements

The role involves domestic and international travel equal to six or more trips a year, so a valid passport is needed. Because colleagues are spread across time zones, work outside standard 9-to-5 hours may be needed on at least two working days each week.

How to apply

The hiring process includes a remote work simulation exercise followed by a video interview. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Key dates

The position stays open until October 6, 2026, at 5:00 AM BST, or until it is filled.
