Overview
OceanMind is hiring a Senior Fisheries Analyst for its Intelligence and Compliance (I&C) team. The role is fully remote and contributes to fisheries monitoring, maritime enforcement, sustainability and intelligence projects around the world. Working alongside other senior analysts, the postholder guides daily activity, supports analysts, oversees projects and ensures intelligence outputs are accurate and on time. The job blends fisheries intelligence, monitoring, control and surveillance, remote sensing, project management, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement.
Duties include mentoring analysts, leading daily monitoring and advanced analysis of selected maritime areas and fishing fleets, producing intelligence reports, risk assessments and compliance recommendations, and flagging emerging concerns for escalation. The analyst also manages several projects at once, covering scoping, budgeting, proposals, delivery, quality assurance and reporting, builds relationships with governments, NGOs and supply-chain organisations, and may represent OceanMind at meetings, workshops and conferences.
Requirements
Candidates need a fisheries, enforcement or intelligence qualification and or substantial relevant experience, knowledge of commercial fishing operations, and an understanding of fisheries supply chains, management tools and compliance challenges. Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential, with experience in large datasets and remote sensing, ideally satellite radar, electro-optical imagery and GIS tools, including training colleagues. Project management, communication, critical thinking, leadership and mentoring skills are also required. Advanced remote-sensing experience, professional Spanish or French at C1 or above, and experience across time zones and cultures are desirable. OceanMind cannot sponsor work authorisation, so anyone based in the UK must already be permitted to work there without sponsorship now or in future.
