Overview

The NTEN Digital Inclusion Fellowship 2026-2027 is a year-long professional development programme for nonprofit professionals working to expand digital literacy and digital equity in their communities. Each fellow designs and carries out a year-long digital inclusion project suited to their organisation and community, with ongoing mentorship. Training covers digital equity, digital literacy, adult education, curriculum development, programme management, community outreach, data collection and evaluation, partnership development, advocacy, public policy and leadership.

What you get

Fellows receive monthly virtual training sessions, individual mentorship and coaching, and access to a national network of digital inclusion professionals. They can earn the Digital Equity Professional Certificate and receive toolkits, programme resources, project evaluation support and national recognition. Fellowship-related training costs are covered, as are travel and accommodation for fellowship events. A project mini-grant of USD $1,000 to $5,000 is provided, depending on location.

Who can apply

The fellowship welcomes professionals from nonprofit organisations, community-based organisations, social service agencies, public libraries, adult education programmes, workforce development organisations, housing authorities and digital inclusion organisations. The programme is offered only in selected locations, so an applicant's organisation must be in an eligible fellowship area.

Requirements

Applicants should be employed by an eligible nonprofit or social service organisation, work directly with communities affected by digital exclusion, have the support of their supervisor and be able to commit significant time to the project. Experience in programme coordination or community engagement is expected. Previous digital inclusion experience is helpful but not required.

Selected fellows attend an in-person orientation, join monthly online training and cohort meetings, meet regularly with mentors, track outcomes, submit progress reports and launch or expand a digital literacy programme.

How to apply

Applicants submit an application including employment information, professional background, a project concept and answers to application questions. The supervisor must also submit a support form, and the application is complete only when both forms are in. Applications are judged on commitment to digital equity, community engagement, leadership potential, programme management experience, project ideas, organisational support and potential community impact.
