Overview
The Four Friends Foundation is hiring a Program Associate to support its grantmaking, grantee relationships and daily operations. The full-time position pays $55,000 to $75,000 per year and is mostly remote, but candidates must live within commuting distance of New York City. Four Friends is a charitable family foundation that supports young people and communities through creativity, storytelling and artistic expression. It funds small and medium-sized creative youth development organisations serving under-resourced communities through general operating support and communications capacity-building, gives nationally with an emphasis on New York City and distributes about $4 million in grants a year.
The associate reports to the Executive Director and works with the Senior Program Officer and Strategic Advisor. Duties include grants administration, such as application intake, due diligence, review materials, award processing, records and deadline tracking; grantee and partner relations, including answering inquiries and joining occasional site visits; coordinating grantee gatherings, workshops and convenings; maintaining databases and CRM systems and reports; supporting the Summer Scholars Program; preparing agendas and notes; and helping with the website, storytelling assets, video library and social media including LinkedIn.
Who can apply
Applicants need a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and about 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit administration, philanthropy, grants management, communications, programme coordination or community or youth development. They need project management, written and verbal communication, attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, comfort working remotely, quick learning of new technology, discretion and follow-through, and willingness to travel up to six times a year. Experience with grantmaking, social media or content management, CRM and grants systems, creative youth development, arts education or work with young people is preferred.
