Overview
Europe Cares is recruiting a Communications Coordinator to lead its communications, covering social media, website content, newsletters, advocacy campaigns and communications strategy. Europe Cares is a growing humanitarian organisation that supports people on the move and advocates for human rights at Europe's external borders. Its headquarters are in Frankfurt, Germany, and its central team works online. On Lesvos it runs Paréa Lesvos, a community centre offering distributions, mental health and psychosocial support, legal support, informal education and integration support, and Paréa Prints, a social enterprise offering screen-printing training and jobs to displaced people.
The coordinator oversees communications planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation, and supports communications volunteers. Tasks include maintaining the strategy and annual plan, managing social media and the editorial calendar, writing press releases, articles and annual reports, producing infographics and posters, preparing monthly newsletters, running the website, creating campaigns, producing photo and video content at Paréa, supporting fundraising and grant reporting with German-language translation, and training and mentoring volunteers.
Who can apply
Applicants must be eligible to work in Germany or Greece, or work as a freelancer, commit for 12 months and be able to provide a criminal record check. They need a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree, previous experience with humanitarian organisations, at least one year managing communications strategies and media platforms, strong written and spoken skills, and a commitment to safeguarding. Fluency in both English and German is required, and candidates who are not fluent in German cannot be considered. Fundraising, grant writing and graphic design experience are highly desirable. People with a refugee background are particularly welcome.

The work location is flexible within GMT+0 to GMT+3, with at least three trips to Lesvos each year, and candidates already on Lesvos are prioritised. The role can be a Greek or German employment contract or a freelance collaboration.
