Mobilizing Research Fellowship 2026: 23 Fellowships of $12,500 for International Graduate Students at Memorial University
Overview
The Mobilizing Research Fellowship Program 2026 at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador offers 23 fellowships of $12,500 each to eligible international graduate students with science and technology research projects. The programme helps researchers bridge academic work and real-world application through training in technology innovation, entrepreneurship, intellectual property, translational research and commercialization, using a From Lab Bench to Store Shelves approach. It runs from September 10, 2026 to April 30, 2027, and all activities are mandatory. Funding is contingent on final approval from the Newfoundland and Labrador government's Settlement and Integration Program.
Who can apply
Applicants must be international graduate students enrolled in a research-based programme at Memorial University. Postdoctoral fellows are not eligible. The research must relate to science and technology and have commercialization potential. Applicants must remain students for the whole programme period and hold a valid study permit throughout. Participants are normally expected to be present in St. John's, with limited exceptions for field studies and for those in person on the Grenfell or Labrador campuses.
What you get
Each fellow receives $12,500. The programme includes translational R&D workshops, a graduate course on new venture creation, entrepreneurship, innovation and professional skills held on Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., one-on-one coaching from mentors in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and practical workshops that align projects with market needs.
Requirements
