Overview

Mighty Earth is recruiting a Senior Associate: Climate and Environment, working remotely within Brazil under a CLT contract. Mighty Earth is a global environmental advocacy organisation founded in 2016 and headquartered in Washington, D.C. Its campaigns address deforestation, climate pollution, land rights, labour abuses and human rights in commodity supply chains such as beef, soy, palm oil, cocoa and rubber. For this role, the focus is climate, agriculture and food systems in Brazil, with particular attention to reducing agricultural methane emissions and encouraging supermarkets, food companies and policymakers to adopt more climate-friendly practices.

Requirements

The Senior Associate helps develop and carry out the Brazil strategy, builds campaigns, conducts research and supports investigations, and prepares campaign reports, executive briefings and advocacy materials. They build relationships with partners and may join meetings with corporate executives, sustainability teams, policymakers, campaign groups and legal professionals, and advocate for legal and regulatory measures that cut agricultural methane emissions.

Applicants need a bachelor's degree in communications, environmental studies or a related field, fluency in Portuguese and English, experience in climate campaigning or environmental advocacy, strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to turn complex issues into reports, press releases, social content and advocacy letters. Helpful extras include a similar senior advocacy role, knowledge of cattle production and agriculture's link to climate change, proven campaign strategy experience and international experience. The organisation wants someone committed to environmental protection and social justice, adaptable, collaborative and results-oriented.

How to apply

Candidates apply through the recruitment platform run by Share People Hub. No fixed closing date is stated, so applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The role is listed as remote within Brazil, so applicants should confirm they meet the location and language requirements.
