Overview

Mercy Corps is seeking a Sustainability Analyst consultant to build an interactive Power BI dashboard for carbon accounting and reporting. Mercy Corps is a global humanitarian organization working in more than 40 countries with communities facing disaster, conflict and poverty, and it has set a goal of cutting its global carbon footprint by 50% by FY2030. The organization has tracked sustainability data for several years and is now upgrading its system for greater accuracy and automation.

The assignment is expected to take about 10 to 15 days, with the schedule agreed with the selected consultant. The consultant reports to the Environmental Sustainability Manager, works closely with the Global Data Services Team, and is linked to the Strategy & Learning function. The opportunity is listed as open anywhere in the United States.

What you will do

The main deliverable is a fully functional dashboard covering Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. The consultant integrates data from several sources into Power BI, including an Enterprise Fabric Lakehouse, builds data validation and error-checking processes, supports automated data refresh, and looks for ways to improve functionality and user experience so the dashboard is practical and easy to use.

Requirements

Candidates need roughly 5 to 10 years of relevant experience and a degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Analytics or a related field. Experience with carbon accounting and emissions reporting is expected, along with strong Power BI development skills in data modeling, DAX and visualization. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, familiarity with Power Query Editor or similar tools, and an understanding of relational databases and data integration are also needed. Knowledge of the GHG Protocol is valuable, and experience supporting mission-driven organizations is required.
