Overview

Kids Can Fly (KCF), a Canadian non-profit founded in 2001, is seeking an Executive Director. KCF supports children from birth to six years old and their families in Brantford and Brant County, Ontario, through evidence-informed programmes on early learning, healthy development and family connection, and it is the local affiliate for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and Roots of Empathy. The position is full-time and permanent, primarily remote, on a four-day week of 30 hours, with a salary of $70,000 to $85,000 per year and a start in September or October 2026. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and acts as the organisation's public representative.

What the role involves

The director leads fundraising, including campaigns, relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations and partners, grant applications and new funding opportunities, and supports financial planning and budget management with the Board Treasurer and accountant. The role provides strategic leadership aligned with the mission, supports growth and innovation, works with the Board on planning and governance and responds to emerging community needs. It also covers community engagement and communications, such as representing KCF at events, building partnerships with schools, families, businesses and funders, and promoting the organisation through presentations, media and social media, as well as managing staff and volunteers, workplace culture, policies, risk and programme delivery and evaluation.

Requirements

Ideal candidates have at least five years of progressive leadership experience, preferably in the non-profit sector, experience in fundraising, donor engagement and grant writing, strong financial management and budgeting, experience supervising teams and volunteers, excellent communication, organisation and project management, and experience with digital tools, donor management systems and financial software. A background in early childhood education, child development, social services, public administration, communications or non-profit leadership is preferred, and knowledge of early childhood development and family support is an advantage.

How to apply

Candidates send a cover letter and resume to the Chair of the Board of Directors.
