HR Manager at HENSLEE | Remote Part-Time Opportunity | $75–$125/Hour

Overview

HENSLEE is looking for a part-time HR Manager (People Operations Leader) to support a small, mission-driven organisation. HENSLEE is a fractional HR consultancy that helps small and early-stage employers, including nonprofits, build People Operations systems, and the HR Manager will serve one of its long-standing clients. The role is fully remote and mixes strategic input with hands-on delivery, working closely with a Senior People Leader while owning day-to-day execution.

What you get

The work is about 15 to 20 hours per week, paid at $75 to $125 per hour depending on experience and fit. Availability is needed between 9 AM and 2 PM Pacific Time, ideally across five days a week, so time-zone compatibility matters.

The HR Manager handles employee relations, answers policy questions, supports sensitive conversations and helps employees with employment issues. They are the main day-to-day contact for the client team, organise People Operations projects, turn strategic direction into practical activity, keep detailed employee documentation, escalate matters to the Senior People Leader when needed, and flag trends, organisational risks, morale concerns and capacity gaps.

Requirements

Applicants need at least 8 years of People Operations experience across two or more employers, with nonprofit HR experience required, particularly in small organisations of fewer than 100 employees and ideally fewer than 50. They need strong knowledge of California and US employment law across the employee lifecycle, covering policies, leave, performance management, benefits, compensation, compliance, transitions and employee relations. The role calls for clear, empathetic communication in high-stakes conversations, strong organisation and time management, thorough documentation, and familiarity with Slack, Google Workspace, project management tools and HR systems. Experience with senior stakeholders is expected.
