Overview

GIZ is recruiting a Technical Advisor for Distribution and Ecosystem Development on the EU-funded Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Audio-visual project, run with Expertise France. The post is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and the assignment lasts until 30 November 2029. The project aims to strengthen socio-economic and intercultural ties between Africa and Europe by supporting cooperation across film, series, animation, video games and immersive content, improving market access and building industry ecosystems.

The advisor provides technical advice on distribution strategies and market access, supports audience development and marketing, builds partnerships between African and European distributors, broadcasters, publishers and streaming platforms, strengthens links among creators, hubs, incubators, markets and networks, develops strategic partnerships and consortia, organises matchmaking and participation in international audiovisual events, supports visibility of project initiatives, contributes to planning, monitoring and reporting, and works closely with GIZ, Expertise France and EU partners.

Who can apply

Applicants need a university degree in film, media studies, cultural management, economics, trade, marketing or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience in audiovisual distribution, market development, international industry collaboration, global audiovisual markets and emerging platforms, or industry events and partnership work. Experience with international partnerships, development programmes or donor-funded projects is an advantage.

Requirements

GIZ seeks strong intercultural competence, independence, knowledge of global audiovisual markets and distribution channels, experience building partnerships and networks, strategic thinking with attention to detail, business-level English and a real interest in technology, film or gaming. German, French or Portuguese is a plus.
