Overview

VVOB, education for development, is hiring a Multimedia Designer for its Global Office in Nairobi, Kenya. VVOB is an international non-profit with more than 40 years of experience improving the quality of education systems, working with ministries of education in Africa, Asia and South America. The designer joins the global communication team, works with colleagues in Nairobi and Brussels, and reports to the Global Director of Engagement and Communication, alongside the Storyteller and Digital Media Advisor.

The contract is full-time and of indefinite duration.

The gross monthly salary ranges from KES 171,600 to KES 284,542, depending on seniority and experience, plus additional benefits.

What the role involves

The designer produces publications, technical briefs, reports, presentations, event materials, infographics and social media assets, and helps keep a consistent visual identity. They also create video edits, animations and audiovisual assets where appropriate, manage the photo database, templates and design resources, prepare and upload visual content to the website, support design workflows, give technical input when external design services are bought, carry out quality checks and follow emerging design practice.

Who can apply

Applicants should hold a university degree in graphic design, animation, multimedia production, digital design, motion graphics, creative technologies, visual communication or a related field with practical design training, though equivalent professional experience may be considered. At least three years of print and digital design and layout experience and a portfolio of work for different clients are expected.

Requirements

Strong Adobe Creative Cloud skills, especially InDesign, are required, along with proven Canva use for branded materials and good Microsoft Office skills. Experience with Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects or Final Cut Pro and with editing short videos is desirable. Candidates need to apply brand guidelines, handle several requests to deadlines, be fluent in written and spoken English and be legally authorised to work in Kenya.
