Overview

NatureSpace Partnership Ltd is hiring a GIS Officer to join its Data Team and support conservation and biodiversity work across the United Kingdom. The job is fully remote and home-based, and the organisation operates as a dispersed national team without a central office. The officer reports to the Senior GIS Specialist and works with statistical modelling specialists, internal teams, partners and external stakeholders.

The role covers the full geospatial data lifecycle: sourcing, processing, quality assurance, maintenance, archiving and appropriate deletion of biological and environmental data.

What you get

The salary is 32,950 pounds a year for a full-time, 32-hour week worked Monday to Thursday. Benefits include 20 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, birthday leave on a weekday, an additional Christmas holiday, company pension contributions, private health insurance, life insurance, an annual performance bonus of up to 20 percent of salary, an individual development budget, and time off in lieu or overtime pay where extra hours are agreed.

Who can apply

Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available because the organisation has no Home Office sponsor licence.

Requirements

A degree in GIS, geography, environmental science or a related subject is expected, though equivalent work experience may be considered. Candidates need professional experience with GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS, work with geospatial datasets, sound GIS knowledge, attention to detail, the ability to juggle priorities, Excel and Word skills, and the ability to work independently to deadlines. Environmental data experience, a relevant Master's degree, coding knowledge in R, Python or SQL, and wildlife conservation knowledge are advantages.

Duties include maintaining accurate spatial and tabular datasets and documentation, exchanging data with partners and local record centres, giving first-line GIS support, automating workflows, producing maps and responding to data requests. Occasional travel to meetings in central England may be needed.

Key dates

The closing date is 17:00 BST on 12 October 2026, though the vacancy may close earlier if many applications arrive. Virtual interviews on Microsoft Teams are planned for the week of 2 November 2026. The start date is as soon as possible.
