Overview
The European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) is recruiting a Documentalist and Communication Officer in Brussels, Belgium. The post is full-time and permanent, combining information management, digital publishing and communications. ETUI is the research and training arm of the European trade union movement, carrying out research on labour, employment and European social policy and delivering training for workers' organisations.
The officer works across the Documentation Centre and the Communications and Publications (ComPub) Unit and reports to the Head of ComPub.
What you get
The starting gross salary is 4,128 euros per month, with a benefits package and a hybrid arrangement allowing up to 10 days of remote work per month. The successful candidate is expected to start in January 2027.
What the role involves
Duties cover documentation and database management, such as cataloguing and indexing physical collections and updating the Labourline database, and literature monitoring and editorial support, including monitoring literature in ETUI's priority research areas, helping researchers find information and standardising publication bibliographies. The post also covers digital publishing, registering and publishing ETUI publications across the ETUI website, Labourline, SSRN and CrossRef, and communications support, including website maintenance in the CMS, updating digital content, contributing to social media and online dissemination.
Requirements
Applicants need a Bachelor's degree in librarianship, information science, social sciences or a closely related field, plus experience in documentation and information management and strong organisational and communication skills. Technical skills include library and digital collection management, MS Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, Zotero, website content management systems, information management software such as Kentika and basic social media skills. CRM experience is an advantage. Several years in a similar role, especially in a nonprofit, research, academic or international organisation, is desirable. Fluency in English and/or French is needed, with willingness to learn the other working language. Knowledge of EU institutions, labour policy or the European trade union movement is a distinct advantage.
