Overview
FHI 360 is hiring a Policy and Advocacy Manager in Washington, DC. The full-time post sits in the Chief Impact Office and reports to the Global Policy and Advocacy Senior Director. The manager helps advance the organisation's advocacy agenda on health and economic opportunity through policy research, stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, project coordination and event management.
A major task is coordinating the organisation-wide policy comment process. The manager also tracks legislative, regulatory and funding developments, analyses emerging issues, writes issue positions, briefing papers, presentations and talking points, and develops a global policy and advocacy communications plan with the Global Communications team. They plan and run policy events, briefings, congressional engagements, roundtables and stakeholder meetings, work with policymakers and NGO coalition partners, and monitor advocacy indicators.
What you get
The US hiring salary range is US$90,000 to US$110,000 per year, depending on experience, education, internal equity, business sector and budget. FHI 360 contributes 7 percent of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan. Full-time US staff receive 18 days of paid vacation, 12 sick days and 11 holidays per year. International ranges may differ.
Who can apply
Applicants need a Bachelor's degree in public policy, international relations, political science, communications or a related field and at least five years of experience in public policy and advocacy communications, with strong writing skills. Experience on Capitol Hill, with government agencies or with implementing partners is required, along with experience building relationships with congressional staff, US Government stakeholders and coalitions. An advanced degree is preferred, as is experience engaging philanthropic donors. Knowledge of health, development or economic opportunity communications is relevant, English must be excellent, and Microsoft tools and collaboration platforms are expected. About 10 percent travel is anticipated.
