Overview

Vinteden is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the Frontend Technologies domain within Marketplace Technologies. Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, this role focuses on pivoting the existing frontend setup for greater efficiency, architecting platform-specific changes, and driving strategic engineering initiatives across Android, iOS, and Web. The position involves leading a horizontal, platform-focused domain and shaping the future technology strategy for frontends.

Who can apply

Candidates for this position must bring a proven track record of creating significant organizational change rather than incremental adjustments. Applicants need at least two years of experience leading leaders and five years of experience influencing without authority across different domains. You must possess enough technical acumen to engage in depth with direct reports, understand complex problems at their essence, and synthesize inputs from engineering managers and staff engineers.

Requirements

The role requires managing four Engineering Managers and three Staff Engineers while influencing 40 plus teams across nine product domains. Responsibilities span strategic planning, setting future technology strategy, refining domain identity, overseeing technical tooling and core libraries, elevating global UI quality, and ensuring system resilience and reliability. Candidates must be comfortable balancing long-term technological vision with short-term quarterly deliverables while driving AI-efficiency enablement and cross-platform frontend opportunities.
