The League of Women Voters of Washington (LWVWA) is hiring a Director of Development to build and lead a sustainable fundraising programme. LWVWA is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organisation founded in 1920 that offers voter education, election information and civic engagement opportunities, with a statewide network of 20 local Leagues and more than 3,000 members and volunteers. The director will help shape the organisation's first comprehensive, year-round development programme and reports to the Executive Director.
What the role involves
The director creates a diversified fundraising programme covering the organisation's 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) entities, sets measurable goals and tracks performance. Tasks include working with the Executive Director on major donors, making direct asks, building case-for-support messaging, preparing Board members and volunteers to fundraise, expanding planned giving, building relationships with institutional funders, handling acknowledgements and stewardship, and managing donor records and gifts in the EveryAction CRM. Success is measured by higher annual revenue, better donor retention and engagement and more diverse funding.
Who can apply
Applicants need at least four years of fundraising experience with a record of developing and carrying out fundraising strategies, experience cultivating and stewarding donors at different levels, knowledge of donor databases and strong writing and communication skills. Experience in civic engagement, public policy, advocacy, education or mission-driven nonprofits is preferred, as is knowledge of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) fundraising, nonprofit boards and EveryAction.
What you get
The post is part-time at about 25 hours per week with a salary of $39,000 to $46,000 per year. Benefits include a monthly medical and dental stipend, 10 paid holidays, two floating holidays, six days of paid sick and safe time and six days of paid time off, rising with tenure, and League membership. The schedule has some flexibility, though occasional evening and weekend work may be needed. The job can be done remotely, with access to an office in the Seattle area.
