Overview

CorpsAfrica is recruiting an African Philanthropy Director, a senior full-time role focused on strengthening fundraising and revenue generation across its network of African country offices. The position is Africa-based, with remote or hybrid flexibility within countries where CorpsAfrica operates, and sits in the Global Support Office.

CorpsAfrica is a nonprofit founded in 2011 by Liz Fanning that recruits and trains young Africans to live and work in rural communities, where they listen to residents and facilitate community-led development projects. It launched its first volunteer cohort in Morocco in 2013 and now operates in 11 African countries. More than 1,700 volunteers have completed service, and the organization reports that its projects have helped improve the lives of nearly one million people.

The director concentrates on revenue generation, donor acquisition, pipeline development and capacity building. This includes coaching country teams on major donor cultivation, grant writing, local philanthropy, donor pitches and proposals; creating localized training modules and resources such as toolkits, proposal templates, pitch decks and grant guidelines; identifying major donors, high-net-worth individuals, foundations and institutional funders; setting up donor stewardship; overseeing the grant calendar and high-value proposals; building fundraising dashboards that track retention, average gift size, conversion rates, revenue targets and projections; and overseeing CRM practices, including Salesforce.

Who can apply

Applicants should have at least seven years of progressive leadership experience in philanthropy, major donor cultivation, institutional fundraising or nonprofit revenue strategy, and a bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, international development, executive leadership or a related field. A master's degree or equivalent executive experience is preferred. A record of securing major gifts, institutional grants and multi-year commitments is expected, along with experience across African markets and a belief in youth leadership and community-led development.

How to apply

Candidates submit a resume and cover letter through the CorpsAfrica recruitment platform, describing experience leading philanthropy across multiple countries or regions, an example of a significant grant or major gift they led, and their coaching and capacity-building experience.
