ClimateWorks Foundation Seeks a Finance Manager (Remote, United States)
Overview
ClimateWorks Foundation is seeking a Finance Manager for its Finance and Grants Department. It is a full-time role classed as US Flexible, so the postholder may work remotely from eligible US locations or from the San Francisco office, and reports to the Senior Director of Finance. ClimateWorks is an international nonprofit that connects funders and implementing organisations to scale climate solutions. Since 2008 it has awarded more than US$2 billion in grants to over 850 grantees in 50 countries, working with more than 80 funding partners.
What the role involves
The Finance Manager oversees financial planning, forecasting, programme budgeting and financial analysis for donor proposals. This includes developing programme budgets, coordinating budget-to-actual reporting with Accounting, supporting annual budgeting, preparing detailed budgets for incoming donor proposals and answering donor budget questions. The role also contributes to cost recovery analysis, financial sustainability work and pricing reports, monitors interest income and delivers ad hoc analyses. On grants, the manager reviews grantee financial statements and budgets, makes recommendations, reconciles funding sources, maintains financial records and supports grants and contracts administration.
Requirements
Applicants need a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience, and at least seven years in financial planning, modelling and analysis. They should have strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, advanced Excel, working knowledge of Word and Outlook, and an understanding of basic nonprofit accounting. Experience with Adaptive or Workday, Salesforce, Asana or nonprofit financial systems is preferred, as is commitment to the mission.
What you get
Salary depends on location. Tier 1, covering the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City, is US$120,000 to 130,000, and Tier 2, other eligible US locations, is US$110,000 to 120,000. Benefits include fully employer-covered medical, dental and vision, a 401(k) with employer contributions, life and disability insurance, fertility and family care support, mental health and wellness services and financial planning resources. Staff receive 20 days of paid leave in the first year, 14 paid holidays and paid sabbatical opportunities for qualifying staff. Remote staff attend annual in-person gatherings, including an organisation-wide retreat, a departmental retreat and a collaboration week in San Francisco.
