Chapman Fellow in Mathematics (Pure Mathematics Section)
Overview
The Pure Mathematics Section of the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London is recruiting one or more Chapman Fellows, starting in September 2027. The fellowships last a fixed term of 3 years and suit people who want an academic career in pure mathematics. The work is hybrid and based in South Kensington.
Fellows carry out independent, original research, submit work to leading refereed journals, and help with teaching and administration. They follow a self-directed programme of research and scholarship, take part in the national and international mathematics community, teach undergraduates, and take a role in MSc teaching and project supervision where appropriate.
Requirements
The college is looking for a track record of research in pure mathematics, interpreted broadly, at the highest level. Candidates should want to engage actively with Imperial's seminars, conferences and other events, and have the background and motivation to teach undergraduates and on a leading MSc programme and to supervise MSc theses.
