Center for Biological Diversity Hiring Remote Southeast Campaigner – Earn Up to $90,000 Protecting Wildlife and Ecosystems
Overview
The Center for Biological Diversity is a nonprofit that protects endangered species and natural habitats through science, law, activism and creative communication. It is hiring a full-time Southeast Campaigner to lead advocacy campaigns that protect wildlife, forests, rivers and other ecosystems across the Southeast United States. Priority subjects include red wolves, aquatic species, forest ecosystems, rivers and watersheds, and public lands. The campaigner joins a team of scientists, lawyers, organisers and communications professionals.
The work involves designing campaign plans, building public support, coordinating advocacy actions, meeting communities and local leaders, forming partnerships with conservation groups, and organising public meetings, events, rallies and hearings. The campaigner also writes website content, social media materials, action alerts, press releases, opinion articles and policy documents, and meets local, state and federal officials, writes comment letters and briefings, and carries out research on environmental issues.

The position is remote, with preference for candidates in North Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Alabama or elsewhere in the Southeast. Applicants should be comfortable with occasional travel and participation in community events and public activities.
Requirements
Candidates need experience in campaign work or community organising, strong written and verbal communication, experience developing advocacy or outreach campaigns, the ability to juggle priorities and deadlines, experience working with coalitions and diverse communities, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The Staff Campaigner level requires at least 3 years of campaign or organising experience, and the Senior Campaigner level requires 7 or more years.
What you get
Salary for the Staff Campaigner level is $55,000 to $72,000 per year, and for the Senior Campaigner level $72,000 to $90,000 per year.
