Overview
CARE Canada is hiring a Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance for a full-time virtual position based in Canada, with a starting salary of $85,720 to $91,079. CARE was founded in 1945 and works against global poverty with a focus on women and girls, and CARE Canada supports humanitarian and development programmes as part of that network. The manager helps ensure project funds are used for their intended purposes, donor requirements are met and financial risks are identified and addressed in humanitarian emergencies and development projects.
Duties include building project financial management systems, monitoring donor compliance, supporting proposal budgets, comparing spending with approved budgets, investigating variances and recommending risk mitigation, managing parts of the project accounting cycle, reviewing portfolio performance, supporting forecasting and budget management, advising and building capacity among country-office staff and giving accurate, timely financial information to senior management and donors. The role also carries responsibilities for gender equality and safeguarding, including helping prevent sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse and child abuse.
Requirements
Candidates need at least three years as a Finance Officer or Financial Analyst and a university degree in Accounting. They should know budgeting, accounting processes, variance analysis, project accounting and forecasting, and understand the financial and reporting implications of contracts with government agencies, UN agencies and private donors, especially for emergency funding. Excellent English and French, strong Excel and Outlook skills, good communication, organisation, teamwork, cultural sensitivity and leadership are required. Work at an international NGO and a professional accounting designation are advantages.
