Overview

CARE Canada is hiring a Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance. The post is virtual and based in Canada, with a starting salary of $85,720 to $91,079. CARE is a global humanitarian organization founded in 1945 with the creation of the CARE Package, working to fight poverty and inequality with a focus on empowering women and girls.

The manager reports to the Senior Manager, Grants Finance & Compliance and supports the financial management of humanitarian and development projects. Duties include supporting project accounting cycles, building project financial management systems, monitoring the use of funds, supporting donor compliance, contributing to proposal budgets, analysing spending against budgets, investigating variances, managing financial risk, reviewing portfolio performance, supporting forecasting, advising country office staff and building financial management skills in programme teams. The manager also gives accurate information to senior management and donors and explains complex figures to non-finance colleagues.

Requirements

Candidates need at least three years as a Finance Officer or Financial Analyst, a university degree in accounting, strong budgeting and variance analysis skills, and knowledge of how donor contracts affect financial reporting. Excellent written and spoken English and French are required, along with strong Excel and Outlook skills. Knowledge of contract negotiations with government agencies, United Nations agencies and private donors is particularly important, especially for humanitarian emergency funding. Experience at an international NGO and a professional accounting designation are advantages.
