Overview

The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) is recruiting a Programme Officer, Project Coordination, for the Africa RISE-Regional Acceleration Project (RISE-RAP), a regional initiative to strengthen country capacity to speed up irrigation-related policies and investments. The post is on an internationally recruited staff contract and reports to the Director of Infrastructure. The officer coordinates day-to-day implementation, bringing together regional activities, country support and contributions from development partners so that delivery stays timely, coordinated and compliant. This includes consolidating annual and quarterly workplans and budgets, keeping a live implementation plan that tracks dependencies between project components, and spotting bottlenecks early.

What you get

The indicative basic salary is US$35,044.83 per year, about US$2,920 per month. On top of this come a post adjustment of 57 percent of basic salary, a housing allowance of US$21,832.88 per year and a gratuity of 15 percent of gross salary, under African Union rules for internationally recruited staff.

Who can apply

Applications are open to citizens of African Union Member States. There are two education routes. Candidates with a Master's degree in agricultural engineering, project management, development studies, education or irrigation engineering need at least two years of progressive programme or project management experience. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in one of those fields need at least four years. Experience should come from an international, regional or national organisation, and a PMP or PRINCE2 certification is an advantage.

Requirements

The agency looks for experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder, multi-country projects, ideally funded by development finance institutions, and leading geographically dispersed teams. Candidates should understand African agricultural transformation, climate resilience, irrigation development and regional integration, and ideally have worked with African Union agencies, Regional Economic Communities and development partners. Skills include strong communication, Microsoft Office and SAP ERP proficiency, organisation, analysis, initiative, attention to detail and confidentiality.

Key dates

The application deadline is 14 September 2026.
