Architect/Staff Embedded Software Engineer
Overview
Olix is hiring an Architect/Staff Embedded Software Engineer to join the team in London, United Kingdom. This is a full-time, hands-on individual contributor role focused on leading a major area of the DX-1 platform firmware. The position involves working across the hardware-software boundary to make a rack of custom silicon bootable, manageable, and observable across all stages from pre-silicon simulation to production. Visa sponsorship may be offered for suitable candidates.
Requirements
Applicants must bring exceptional depth on both sides of the hardware-software boundary, including bare-metal or RTOS firmware on resource-constrained cores, and embedded Linux BSP work involving Yocto or OpenEmbedded, U-Boot or UEFI, drivers, and device trees. Candidates need strong systems fundamentals covering memory ordering, shared memory, synchronization, interrupt latency, and timing and memory-bandwidth budgets. Experience taking firmware through a silicon or board bring-up from simulation and FPGA prototypes to first power-on is required, alongside platform management expertise in a rack-scale context such as OpenBMC, Redfish, PLDM over MCTP, and underlying buses. The role also calls for register-level control of an ASIC or large FPGA over a management link, technical leadership without formal authority, and outstanding technical communication skills. Due to U.S. export control regulations, candidate eligibility depends on recent citizenship or permanent residency status, generally excluding applicants whose most recent citizenship or permanent residence is in Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, Russia, Belarus, China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Venezuela unless they have subsequently obtained citizenship or permanent residency in an unrestricted country.
What you get
The position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, skills, and location, starting from 300,000 GBP, alongside meaningful stock options. Additional benefits include an annual Living-Local Bonus for residences within twenty minutes of the office to minimize commutes, and employer-contributed retirement plans.
