Overview

The Internet Society is hiring a Legal Operations Specialist for its Legal, Compliance and Board Governance team. The post is a regular full-time role that is fully remote. The Internet Society is a global organisation focused on an open, globally connected, secure and trustworthy Internet. The specialist works with the General Counsel and other teams to manage legal workflows, compliance systems, governance processes and administrative operations.

Responsibilities include managing calendars, deadlines and recurring workflows for the legal team, supporting board and committee operations such as schedules, logistics, travel, materials, records and follow-up, and administering the board portal. The specialist handles legal invoices, purchase requests and expense tracking with Finance, runs legal intake from request through review, approval, signature and record retention, and oversees the general legal inbox and contract management system. Other duties cover legal and compliance systems, vendor management, compliance training campaigns, internal guidance, insurance matters, corporate and charitable registration records, global entity management and online notarial services for eligible documents.

Requirements

Applicants need at least eight years of relevant experience in legal operations, paralegal work, compliance or executive administration, with substantial in-house legal department and nonprofit experience. Knowledge of US state corporate and charitable solicitation registrations, filing requirements and compliance calendars is expected. Good judgement, discretion, experience with globally distributed teams and clear written and spoken communication are required. A legal operations or project management certification is preferred.
