Overview

UNESCO is building a talent pool of interns for its Digital Business Solutions team, which handles the organization's information and communication technology worldwide, including digital strategy, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, service management, project management and digital risk management. Assignments can be at Headquarters, a field office or an institute and last between one and six months. Applicants who meet the requirements may be picked by hiring managers as suitable placements arise.

Depending on the assignment, interns may work on network monitoring and troubleshooting, cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, helpdesk and user support, cybersecurity tasks such as policy reviews, vulnerability scan analysis and simulated phishing exercises, deployment and testing of AI or generative AI models, web and cloud application development with tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Django and Salesforce, and data cleaning, reporting and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.

Who can apply

Applicants should generally be at least 20 years old. Eligible people include students in the third or final year of a Bachelor's degree, students in a second university degree, Master's or PhD programme, and those who completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD within the 12 months before the internship agreement is issued. Technical or vocational students in their final year or recent graduates may also qualify. Excellent written and spoken English or French is needed, and the other language is an advantage. Strong computer skills, communication, teamwork, adaptability and motivation are also valued.

What you get

The internship is unpaid. Interns receive leave of 2.5 days per month plus one extra working day for each complete month, and limited workplace insurance covering certain injuries, illnesses, disabilities or death directly attributable to the internship. Interns arrange their own comprehensive health insurance, visas and travel.

How to apply

The application includes questions about skills, competencies, experience and interests. Applications may be in English or French, and documents in other languages need unofficial translations. Joining the talent pool does not guarantee a placement.

Key dates

The deadline is 31 December 2026 at midnight.
