OECD Internship Programme 2026: Paid Opportunities for International Students
Overview
The OECD Internship Programme offers students practical experience within an international organization, involving research, policy analysis, and institutional tasks. Participants work alongside policy experts to develop analytical, technical, and communication skills. Placements cover numerous fields, including agriculture, climate change, economics, education, employment, environment, finance, governance, health, science and technology, taxation, and international trade. Corporate opportunities are also available in areas such as communications, finance, human resources, information technology, legal services, and translation.
Who can apply
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree programme throughout the entire duration of the internship, with a field of study relevant to the organization's work. Online courses and non-degree programmes do not qualify. Candidates must be available for a minimum of one month and possess an excellent command of either English or French, alongside a working knowledge of or willingness to learn the other. Placements are primarily allocated to nationals of member countries, though non-member nationals may be considered for specific projects and affiliated bodies.
What you get
Internships typically last between one and six months and can be renewed up to a total of twelve months. Most placements require a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week, although part-time arrangements of at least 20 hours weekly are possible in exceptional circumstances. Interns based in Paris receive a financial contribution of 1,000 euros for each full month worked to assist with living expenses. Additionally, participants accrue 2.5 working days of paid annual leave per full month worked and observe French public holidays.
Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate good quantitative, information technology, drafting, and communication skills, and show a strong ability to work effectively within multicultural teams. Additional language proficiencies can serve as an advantage. Depending on the assignment, duties may involve preparing studies, conducting research, reviewing materials, collecting and analyzing data, producing working papers, attending meetings, and assisting with event organization and communications.
How to apply
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year through the online recruitment platform. Candidates must complete the online application, insert their cover letter into the designated message box, and clearly state their availability. The evaluation process involves an initial screening by the Internship Office followed by shortlisting for OECD directorates, which may include interviews or written tests. Because the selection procedure can take up to three months, early submission is advised, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
