ML Engineering Intern - LLM Research & Development
Overview
Prosus, a global technology company behind lifestyle e-commerce businesses such as Just Eat Takeaway, OLX and PayU, is offering a Machine Learning Engineering internship in Amsterdam, focused on large language model research and development. Prosus operates across more than 100 companies and says over 60,000 AI agents help its teams build and move faster. Interns work with AI engineers who have published at NeurIPS and released models on Hugging Face, and their code is meant to reach production quickly.
What you will do
The intern trains, fine-tunes and serves open-source LLMs such as Qwen and Mistral that power real products, designs experiments, evaluates results and ships solutions that win in A/B tests, and works across the machine learning lifecycle from training runs to production serving infrastructure.
Who can apply
The internship is open to candidates currently enrolled at a university who either hold EU citizenship or are studying in the Netherlands, because visa support is not available for internships. Applicants must be able to commit to six to twelve months in Amsterdam with at least three days a week in the office, and the team will work around the academic schedule.
Requirements
The employer looks for solid Python skills from building real projects, with distributed systems experience a bonus, practical use of PyTorch and Hugging Face with an understanding of what happens underneath, and machine learning fundamentals from training models yourself. Candidates should be able to read research papers and turn the ideas into working code, think independently, be curious, communicate clearly, stay flexible when priorities change and use AI assistants regularly for coding and writing.
What you get
Interns get access to H200 GPU clusters, large datasets and the major LLM APIs, plus data on billions of customer interactions from more than 500 million users across e-commerce platforms. Other benefits are a competitive junior engineer compensation, a MacBook Pro, premium coding assistants, a modern office in Amsterdam South with barista coffee and a travel card for the commute.
