Machine Learning Intern 2027 (Dublin)
Overview
Pinterest is recruiting a Machine Learning Intern for summer 2027 at its Dublin office. Pinterest is a platform where millions of people find creative ideas and plan for the future, and the intern applies machine learning and AI to product and engineering challenges. Working with engineering, product and data teams, the intern prototypes, evaluates and improves ML-powered features and discovery experiences and learns how large-scale ML systems are built, with guidance from experienced engineers.
The internship runs full-time during typical business hours from Monday to Friday, with the programme dates set as 10 May 2027 to 27 August 2027. The role is onsite in Dublin and needs in-person collaboration two to three weekdays per week, so interns must live within commuting distance. The position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
What you will do
The intern owns a scoped machine learning project from problem definition through experimentation, implementation and communicating results. Other duties include contributing to applied ML and AI research that informs product experiences, collecting, analysing and synthesising data to build models, writing clean, maintainable and tested code, and applying techniques such as natural language processing or graph-based approaches to modelling and ranking across discovery, ads and search. Interns break down technical problems, propose approaches, deliver project milestones, share progress and use AI to speed up analysis while checking correctness and quality.
Who can apply
Applicants should be working towards a master's or PhD in computer science, machine learning, NLP, statistics, information sciences or a related field. Experience in areas such as ranking, computer vision, NLP, recommendations, embeddings or information retrieval is expected, along with experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark and real-time stream systems. Proficiency in a systems language such as Java, C++ or Python or in an ML framework such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or MLflow is needed, together with research and analytical problem-solving experience and strong teamwork.
