Intern, Molecular Biology
Overview
Adaptyv is offering a full-time Molecular Biology Internship based on-site in Lausanne, Switzerland. The organization operates an automated laboratory environment designed to allow artificial intelligence agents to carry out biological experiments. Interns will directly manage active production pipelines rather than observing from the sidelines, supporting high-throughput systems that serve biotech and pharmaceutical clients.
Interns take ownership of end-to-end wet lab processes, including cloning, protein expression, purification, and characterization. Daily responsibilities involve operating liquid handlers and automated hardware, transitioning manual procedures into automated protocols, improving quality control workflows, and troubleshooting biological and instrumentation issues. The position requires a minimum commitment of six months, with flexible start dates.
What you get
Participants will receive direct mentorship from senior staff while tackling complex experimental challenges. Successful interns who demonstrate high performance may be considered for transition into permanent, full-time positions at the conclusion of the internship. Potential visa sponsorship may also be considered for qualifying applicants.
Requirements
Applicants should be current BSc or MSc students or recent graduates in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related discipline. Prior hands-on wet lab experience gained through research, projects, or internships is required, specifically involving techniques such as PCR, cloning, transformation, and electrophoresis, with background in protein expression and purification preferred.
Candidates should possess an interest in laboratory automation and software, with familiarity in scripting using Python or operating liquid-handling systems considered a distinct advantage. Successful candidates must demonstrate self-direction, experience using artificial intelligence tools to support their work, strong attention to reproducible documentation, and the ability to diagnose experimental errors.
How to apply
Applications are accepted and evaluated on a continuous, rolling basis.
