Overview
AccuWeather is offering a paid, remote Social Media Intern position for Fall 2026. The intern joins the Social Media Team and helps develop creative strategies across multiple platforms. The work combines content creation, research, trend monitoring, community engagement, user-generated content and analytics. The commitment is about 20 hours per week, with morning and daytime availability preferred, some evening hours possible, and occasional evening and weekend work required.

The intern sources user-generated content from social platforms and obtains permission from content owners before publication, pitches daily weather-related content ideas, and coordinates the sources, feeds and people that contribute to AccuWeather's social channels. The intern also monitors social networks for testimonials, questions and comments, engages with users, and involves relevant internal departments when issues need extra expertise.
Analytics are a key part of the role. The intern analyzes data about AccuWeather and its competitors using internal and external tools, researches changes affecting social networks through industry blogs, news and webinars, and writes trend reports on frequently discussed weather topics and culturally relevant conversations.
Who can apply
Applicants should be pursuing a four-year bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing or a related field with substantial writing experience.
Requirements
Candidates need demonstrated knowledge of Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms, basic image-editing knowledge and a willingness to learn basic scientific and meteorological concepts. The ability to explain information clearly to a general audience is useful. AccuWeather also looks for self-motivated, team-oriented people who work well under pressure and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
