Overview

UNICEF Femtech Ventures is a five-year initiative running from 2025 to 2030, created by the UNICEF Venture Fund. It invests in locally developed frontier technology solutions that widen access to health, wellbeing, and sexual and reproductive health and rights for girls and women in emerging markets. The initiative backs companies that are close to the problems they address and that build open-source solutions.

This is the second annual call for applications. It will choose the next group of investees to join a portfolio that began with a first cohort of 11 companies from eight countries in Africa and Asia.

What you get

Selected companies join the Femtech Ventures portfolio and receive up to US$100,000 in funding. They also get 12 months of technical mentorship and access to UNICEF's global network, including its relationships with governments, to help move their solutions toward scale.

Who can apply

The call is aimed at companies using technologies such as AI, machine learning, blockchain or data science. Women-led startups and young founders under the age of 35 are strongly encouraged to apply. The programme especially wants applications from companies that are registered in a UNICEF programme country, are working with a functional prototype, and are committed to open-source licensing and principles.

How to apply

Applications are submitted online through the UNICEF Venture Fund application process.

Key dates

The application deadline is November 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM (CET).
