TORG Global Research Fellowship 2026/2027: Fully Online Research Mentorship Programme | Apply by 20 November 2026
Overview
The TORG Global Research Fellowship is a 12-month international programme organized by The Operating Room Global through its Centre for Education, Research and Innovation. Designed for emerging healthcare researchers, the fellowship helps participants build practical research skills via academic teaching, individual mentorship, independent research, and scientific writing. The programme is delivered entirely online to accommodate participants across different countries, running officially from 1 January to 31 December 2027.
Applicants may propose projects across three distinct pathways: Clinical and Healthcare Research, Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement, and Evidence Synthesis. Selected fellows work on an approved research project guided by an assigned Global Research Mentor. The initiative follows a previous cohort that produced multiple published research outputs, aiming to further strengthen participant capabilities and foster meaningful academic contributions.
Who can apply
The programme is open to healthcare professionals, students, academics, and aspiring researchers who want to develop their research capacities. It is well-suited for beginners who possess a strong interest in research and a feasible project idea. Admission is competitive and relies on applicant eligibility, project feasibility, and available mentorship capacity.
Successful candidates must demonstrate commitment, motivation, and the availability to participate fully throughout the 12-month duration. Participants are required to arrange necessary research access, institutional permissions, and ethics approvals. Successful applicants must also pay a one-time administrative cost-recovery contribution, which varies based on country-income classification and membership status, with rates ranging from €40 to €120. No payment is required upon initial application.
What you get
Fellows participate in eight mandatory monthly academic teaching sessions held on the second Saturday of each month from January to August 2027. Each participant receives individual mentorship, including at least one structured monthly meeting to guide academic progress.
Participants gain structured support to develop an approved research project, submit monthly progress reports, and prepare a final dissertation and scientific manuscript. Fellows also present their work at the TORG Virtual Research Congress. Eligible fellows may benefit from publication-charge waivers through the approved TORGJ Fellowship pathway and access to TORG-IRB review without a separate review fee, alongside structured academic mentorship.
Requirements
Applicants must submit an online application that includes personal and professional information, research experience, proposed project details, methodology, research setting, feasibility, and motivation.
Required documents to prepare in advance include an updated curriculum vitae, evidence of relevant academic qualifications, a preliminary research concept note of one to two pages in DOCX format, a professional photograph in JPG or PNG format, evidence of TORG membership or leadership status where applicable, and other relevant supporting research documents.
Key dates
The application deadline is 20 November 2026 at 14:00 GMT. A mandatory online orientation session takes place on 13 December 2026 at 16:00 GMT. The 12-month fellowship officially runs from 1 January to 31 December 2027, featuring monthly academic teaching sessions from January to August 2027 alongside ongoing research development and mentorship.
