Overview

The Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship Uganda Cohort 2 is implemented by Hive Colab in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. The programme is designed to support high-impact, growth-stage EdTech ventures in building sustainable and scalable education enterprises. It aims to strengthen business models, improve the quality and relevance of digital learning products, and expand access to inclusive, learner-centred education in Uganda.

Who can apply

Applicants must be locally founded and locally led ventures with leadership and decision-making rooted in Uganda. Eligible ventures must be at the early revenue, growth, or scaling stage, as pre-revenue and idea-stage ventures cannot apply. Ventures must operate in Uganda with the majority of their learners or users based in the country, and they must deliver inclusive learning solutions that reach underserved populations such as youth, young girls, persons with disabilities, refugees, or rural and low-connectivity communities. Additionally, technology must be the core of learning through an active EdTech platform, meaning ventures with solely in-person or classroom-based models are not eligible.

What you get

Selected ventures receive a catalytic milestone-based, equity-free grant alongside a 12-month fellowship programme. The programme features tailored business support, weekly mentorship and coaching, guidance in learning science and inclusive product design, market access, investment readiness advisory, partnership support, and technical assistance. Participants also receive up to 24 months of post-acceleration support focused on growth, market access, fundraising, and long-term sustainability.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a certificate of incorporation or an equivalent registration document, a pitch deck, and a product demo video of up to five minutes via a link with viewing permissions set to anyone with the link. Applicants may also submit a gender, safeguarding, or child protection policy if available.

Key dates

The application deadline is November 26, 2026.
