Overview

The Teach for Uganda STEM Fellowship 2026 is a pilot programme run under the Leaders in Teaching Program, a flagship initiative supported by the Mastercard Foundation and led by the Luigi Giussani Foundation through a consortium of education partners. It responds to Uganda's need for more capable, committed and well-supported STEM teachers, especially women, who can help learners build skills, confidence and imagination.

Teach For Uganda recruits and develops young leaders with strong STEM backgrounds, places them in secondary schools, and supports them to become effective teachers, mentors and role models, especially for girls.

What you get

Fellows build leadership and problem-solving skills, put their academic knowledge into practice, and contribute to tackling educational inequity in Uganda. They receive a monthly stipend to support living expenses, and a fully funded one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) during the first year of enrolment.

Who can apply

Applicants must be female Ugandan citizens or refugees currently living in Uganda, aged 22 to 27 at the time of application. They need a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum CGPA of 3.0. Eligible fields include computer science and IT, engineering, mathematics and statistics, biology, chemistry and physics, environmental science, nursing and public health, agricultural sciences, and any technical or scientific field requiring strong analytical skills.

Requirements

Applicants must be proficient in English and flexible enough to be placed in any Universal Secondary Education (USE) secondary school. They should be passionate about education equity, leadership and community change, and willing to complete the one-year PGDE.

The application needs an updated CV, a motivation statement or leadership responses, academic transcripts, and contact details for referees.
