IIT Jodhpur Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2026: ₹80,000 Monthly Fellowship for Indian and International Researchers
Overview
The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) is accepting applications for its Post-Doctoral Fellowship for 2026-27. It is open to Indian nationals, foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) who want to do advanced research in engineering, sciences, humanities, design, management and interdisciplinary fields. Fellows research under IIT Jodhpur faculty mentors and contribute to teaching and interdisciplinary activities.
Areas include aerospace engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, physics, chemistry and chemical engineering, mathematics, economics, management and entrepreneurship, liberal arts, design, and the Central Research Facility in electron microscopy, spectroscopy, surface analysis and elemental characterisation.
What you get
Fellows receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 80,000, an annual increment of up to 10 percent based on satisfactory performance, and an annual research contingency grant of Rs 50,000 that can also fund conference attendance. Hostel accommodation is available on a payment basis subject to availability, and shortlisted candidates attending interviews receive second AC train fare reimbursement. Fellows also get 30 days of paid leave a year, pro rata. The initial tenure is two years, with a third-year extension possible only in exceptional cases.
Who can apply
Applicants need a PhD with a first-class or equivalent record in the relevant discipline, strong research output through publications or patents, and must apply within two years of completing the PhD. They should preferably be 35 or younger, with a five-year relaxation for women and eligible reserved-category candidates. Those who have submitted their thesis may apply if they provide the provisional PhD degree within three months of appointment. Current IIT Jodhpur PhD scholars are not eligible.
How to apply
Applicants complete an online application and upload supporting documents in the prescribed format. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and no hard copy is required. Departments or schools shortlist candidates, who then give a presentation on their proposed research and attend an interview. An annual review by the Performance Assessment Committee decides continuation into the second year.
