Overview

The FAO Schwarz Fellowship is an intensive two-year professional development program organized by the FAO Schwarz Family Foundation. Designed for recent college graduates, the program combines hands-on nonprofit experience with structured learning, direct service, and leadership development. Fellows work with host organizations in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia to build careers focused on social impact, social equity, nonprofit leadership, and community development.

Who can apply

The program targets recent college graduates who are passionate about social change and interested in building long-term careers in social impact. Ideal candidates have an interest in nonprofit management and leadership, social justice and equity, education and youth development, environmental conservation and sustainability, community development, literacy, and science education. Applicants should review the individual fellowship descriptions published by the host organizations to understand specific responsibilities.

What you get

Participants gain practical work experience through direct service activities and meaningful responsibilities within their host organizations. The program provides leadership development, professional mentorship, strategic project experience, and professional training. Fellows receive guidance that helps them understand nonprofit operations, develop problem-solving abilities, and prepare for future leadership positions in the social impact sector.
