DDC x TrygFonden Fellowship Program 2027: Fully Funded Denmark Fellowship for Researchers, Journalists, and Policymakers
Overview
The DDC x TrygFonden Fellowship Program 2027 is hosted by the Digital Democracy Centre (DDC) at the University of Southern Denmark and is open to researchers, journalists and policymakers interested in digital technology, artificial intelligence, media, politics and democracy. The centre, established in 2021, is interdisciplinary, drawing on political science, communication, journalism, computer science, economics, law, artificial intelligence and media studies. Fellows work with mentors on projects meant to produce practical outcomes such as policy recommendations, educational resources and public engagement, and collaborate with policymakers, media organizations, NGOs and research institutions.
There are three tracks. Academic Fellows research digital technology, AI, democracy and political communication. Journalist Fellows investigate and report on digital democracy, misinformation, AI, online platforms and media accountability. Policy Fellows contribute to policy development, governance and regulation of emerging digital technologies. Projects relevant to Denmark, or offering international insights applicable to Danish society, receive particular consideration, and in 2027 priority also goes to projects linked to the centre's Hybrid Warfare Initiative.
What you get
Depending on the agreement, support may include a salary subsidy, stipend, travel funding, housing support, research resources, a dedicated mentor, flexible workspace, seminars and speaker events, networking and membership in the DDC alumni network. Most fellowships last two to six months, with longer ones considered in exceptional cases, and projects can start at different times in 2027. Fellows can combine remote work with stays at the centre in Odense, Denmark.
