Branco Weiss Fellowship 2027: International Research Fellowship for Outstanding Early-Career Scientists

Overview

The Branco Weiss Fellowship is an international research programme created for early-career scientists who wish to conduct innovative projects that challenge conventional academic boundaries. The initiative gives exceptional junior researchers the freedom to design and pursue novel research agendas rather than simply continuing standard academic trajectories. The registration portal for the 2027 fellowship intake is currently open for eligible candidates to submit their materials through the official application system.

Who can apply

The fellowship is intended for junior researchers with a strong record of scientific achievement, original thinking, and intellectual independence. Candidates must demonstrate scientific rigour and a willingness to explore new territory beyond established academic boundaries. Applicants should be prepared to propose ambitious, independent research projects that demonstrate the capacity to open new perspectives within their disciplines or across traditional boundaries.

How to apply

Candidates must review the fellowship mission, guidelines, eligibility criteria, and funding terms before preparing their submissions. Applicants should develop a scientifically rigorous research proposal with a clearly defined research question and submit all requested documents through the official application system. The programme advises applicants to complete their submissions one to two days before the closing date to prevent issues related to server overload.
